The leather used for our Rowing Club bags is a partially vegetable-tanned, porous leather.
Through use, the leather will transform beautifully, taking on its own character in a similar manner but in a softer way to the products in the Hunter line. In order to assist this process, we recommend that you don’t use any care products initially. The leather has a surface wax and is therefore sufficiently protected. In principle, Hunter leather will require very little care and this can also be said for our Rowing Club products.
Superficial dirt can be removed with a slightly dampened cloth or a transparent eraser.
Water stains can be removed completely and very simply by carefully bending the leather in the affected spot and rolling it between two fingers.
Should the leather become rough over time, Aniline Cream (available in the Lederzentrum) is suitable for use. This cream nourishes the leather, makes it more elastic and even and will remove scratches and help to protect the leather against dirt and the wet. Application should be carried out using a soft cloth, moving from seam to seam. It is important to always apply the lotion to the cloth liberally and evenly first, then to softly massage the lotion into the leather with the cloth.
We recommend that you only use a cloth once for this purpose and then dispose of it. Your bag may be used again only after it has completely dried: the optimum period for this being 24 hours.
There are other commercial wax sprays available that are also suitable for surface protection of the leather and its care.
A slight darkening of the leather after the use of these products may occur, however it will return to normal after a short period of use. We recommend, nevertheless, that you carry out a test patch in a hidden spot first.
